KIM POULSEN
Focused on expressive color and bold design, I primarily work in acrylic and oil on canvas, creating large landscapes and still lifes that explore the beauty and character of the world around me. I have exhibited and sold my work throughout the region for many years.
A few years ago, I began working in watercolor and quickly fell in love with the medium’s unpredictability, luminosity, and brilliance. Watercolor proved to be the perfect vehicle for capturing the delicate textures and intricate forms of birds. What began as an exploration of a new medium soon became an obsession, and I have since painted bird after bird, continually searching for new ways to capture their remarkable forms, colors, and personalities.
Born in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, I studied Graphic Design at the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After living in Florida for many years, I returned to Pennsylvania and settled in Bucks County. The area’s idyllic landscape immediately inspired me, introducing a new palette and subject matter to my work. For nearly twenty years, I have called New Hope home, drawing inspiration from its lush green hills, beautiful river views, and the dramatically changing scenery of its four distinct seasons.
